Proposal Submission

It is our pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the International Test Commission (ITC) and to invite you to submit your proposal to present at the 2016 International Test Commission conference to be hosted in Vancouver, Canada in July.

Please review the general guidelines and the timeline below.  You may also download a PDF version – ITC2016_Guidelines_for_Abstract_Submissions.

  • AUTHOR NOTIFICATION: Please be advised that due to an unexpected large number of submissions, there is a slight delay in the acceptance/rejection notifications. Author notification will be sent by email by the end of this week.

English is the official language for all Conference communications.

The first author of an abstract is considered to be the presenter of this contribution at the ITC 2016 Conference.  As first author, each person may submit a maximum of two submissions. These can be either:

  • Single Papers
  • Posters
  • Oral presentations in a symposium (if you are also the session chair or co-chair of this symposium this only counts as one submission)
  • Being a chair or co-chair of a symposium without authoring one of the single contributions of this symposium

Not counting for this “rule of two” are the participation in a panel discussion, or invited contributions such as a Keynote Speaker or Invited Symposium Chair. Moreover, there is no restriction on the number of submissions as co-author.

  • Each submission includes a structured abstract.
  • All types of submission should be an APA style abstract in text only format of no more than 300 words.
  • Each person can only submit 4 abstracts of which he/she is one of the authors. Of the four submitted, he/she can only be the leading author for 2 abstracts.
  • Names and affiliations of the authors should be in the order of the authorship.

Submissions will be blind reviewed by two peer-reviewers. In some cases abstracts may be rejected as oral presentations but accepted as posters.

  • Call for Proposals Opens:  July 20, 2015
  • Proposal Submission Deadline: December 21, 2015, extended to January 15, 2016
  • Notification of Acceptance/Rejection:  February 28, 2016
  • All presenters must register before the early bird deadline:  April 30, 2016

In order to streamline the scientific program, when you submit an abstract you are asked to select from the list of sub-themes (tracks) to which your abstract is most relevant. Identifying a sub-theme for your abstract(s) also helps the Conference Program Committee to select the most suitable reviewers for your abstract and the best fitting schedule in the conference program.

The sub-themes (tracks) are:

  1. Educational Testing and Assessment
    • Challenges and Opportunities in International Assessment
    • Applying New Technologies and New Psychometric Models in Testing
    • Standards and Guidelines for Best Testing Practices
    • Testing in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts
    • Assessment for improving learning in the classroom
    • Assessment of 21st century skills
    • Validity
  1. Psychological Testing and Assessment
    • Applying New Technologies and New Psychometric Models in Testing
    • Standards and Guidelines for Best Testing Practices
    • Testing in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts

    • Applying New Technologies and New Psychometric Models in Testing
    • Standards and Guidelines for Best Testing Practices
    • Testing in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts
    • Validity
  1. Testing for Program Evaluation and Public Policy
    • Applying New Technologies and New Psychometric Models in Testing
    • Standards and Guidelines for Best Testing Practices
    • Testing in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts
    • Validity

All submissions will be subject to a blind review process by at least two independent peer reviewers. Your identification of a sub-theme (tracks) for your abstract will play a key role in which reviewers will be assigned. The ITC Conference Program Committee will notify the first author (or the person who submits) on the decision via a formal email no later than February 28, 2016.

If your abstract is accepted by the Conference Program Committee, at least one of the authors must register for the conference before April 30, 2016 and present the work in person at the Conference. Failing to register before April 30, 2016 will result in the your accepted presentation being removed from the program.
